All orchid media is not the same!
Many products sold in big-box and commercial stores use extremely cheap filler materials and low-quality Fir Bark that compacts and breaks down rapidly. This makes frequent repotting and changing of the material necessary, which in turn, can set your orchids back. Since the media is extremely stable and does not breakdown easily, many times when we are repotting, we will "pot up" rather than pulling all media out of the roots making repotting easier and less problematic for your plants
+A simple formula using extremely stable components
+The "base" of each mix is aged Pine Bark (Pinus radiata) which is a very dense bark that resist decay. We have been strong proponents of Pine Bark since it was introduced to the US market over a decade ago
+This is our mix based on over 20+ years of orchid growing and repotting experience
+Very free draining and may require more frequent waterings especially at warmer/dryer times of the year. This is good though! More waterings mean more frequent "pulling" of oxygen through the roots and media
(1.5 gallon bags are equivalent to 5- 6" pots full of media)
